Some tech industry friends pointed this out, giving it the spin that it is a direct result of cheap computing for high-end computer-aided design work.
A number of companies are essentially building old cars with modern parts. They've been able to cast an entire shell of 1950s Chevy, exactly as it looked when originally made but altered underneath to accommodate today's engines, drive shafts, etc.
In this one wild example, a company called CARS Inc. is making "new" 1957 Chevy convertibles -- building them around a few original parts, like the dashboard, so the resulting car is considered a restored car and not a new car. It's kind of an auto version of cloning.
